Case Introduction Adoption of battery-fire-resistant sheet ASSY for EVs
Laws and regulations require drivers to have time to evacuate when batteries catch fire, and require materials to prevent flames from spreading for 5 minutes at 1,000ºC. A battery caught fire in the final stage of mass production at a customer facility, and countermeasures were urgently needed. In two months, arrangements were established when it came to material selection, initial evaluations, and mass production, with an order being subsequently received.
Challenges
- It became necessary to provide a proposal for materials in a short period of time and also provide a proposal for assembly arrangements and transportation/packing
- Selection of manufacturing plants (large warehouses) equipped with air conditioning and the start of processes
Solutions provided by Elematec
Vertical lifting of manufacturing bases
Due to the large size of the product and the high cost of transportation, the company decided to hire a warehouse near the customer and use it as a manufacturing base. Efforts such as these allowed us to cater to the requests of customers which related to the securing of a manufacturing base near the customer starting from facility design and the securing of work personnel.
Taking on challenges with passion, speed and teamwork
In a situation involving a material being handled by our company for the first time, we provided a proposal which involved the consideration, proposal and selection of materials as well as the proposal of elements such as assembly methods based on the sense of speed we developed in our mobile business.
Achievements
- PHEVs and battery pack parts for HEVs (ASSY) deployed for several car models
