Notice Concerning Investment in WOTA Corp., 
Which is Developing a “Small-Scale Decentralized Water Circulation System”

　Elematec Corporation (hereinafter referred to as the “Company”) announces that it has invested in WOTA Corp. (Representative Director and CEO: Yosuke Maeda; hereinafter referred to as “WOTA”), headquartered in Chuo-ku, Tokyo, as a strategic partner and thus acquired an equity stake in WOTA.

1. Purpose of Equity Participation

　There are severe shortages of water resources around the world, and water issues have become a pressing international issue, including Goal 6, “Clean Water and Sanitation,” of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In Japan, in addition to structural issues such as increased maintenance costs due to aging pipeline infrastructure, earthquake resistance measures, and human resource shortages, cases have also been pointed out where, in areas with declining populations, business continuity will become difficult owing to falling revenue from water charges. In addition, overseas, the importance of securing water resources is also increasing, and there are many regions where the development of pipeline infrastructure is not progressing owing to rising installation costs.

　Under these circumstances, WOTA aims to build new decentralized water supply systems independent of water supply infrastructure in depopulated areas and other places where it is difficult to maintain water pipes, water treatment facilities, and other water supply infrastructure, and to achieve a stable water supply for each household and facility.

　Through this equity participation, the Company will integrate WOTA’s innovative water treatment technology with the Company’s global materials procurement network, and thereby contribute to reducing dependence on existing large-scale infrastructure, and the social implementation of a sustainable decentralized water supply model, especially in depopulated areas and other places where infrastructure maintenance is difficult. These efforts will also support the development of decentralized water supply systems from a manufacturing perspective, and contribute to solving social issues and building sustainable regional infrastructure.
